A country which is still struggling with Dowry, Female foeticide, Early girl marriage & Honour killing has a DAD who leaves his Job to raise his daughters as world class champions. His struggle with society and self for his daughters is real.
Aamir Khan Dangal is a solid and satisfying watch which makes your heart swell with proud.
Mahavir Singh Phogat is an Indian amateur wrestler and senior Olympics coach. He took birth in a remote area in Haryana, but his thoughts of building up world-class champions even when he wanted a boy is amazing. He trains his girls in a village where the female foeticide rate is highest. He is a man who does no biasing to raise his daughters just like his son.Believing in the fact that every parent’s duty is to raise kids to be self-independent, achieve their dream instead of just get married and work in the kitchen. A real life hero and super daddy to Geeta Phogat who becomes a wrestler and conquers the odds of the society with her father.
I have introduced the girls to wrestling with the aim of winning an Olympic gold for the country and until that happens, my mission will not be accomplished,” says Mahavir Singh Phogat.
We are well acquainted with the momentous wins Geeta and Babita at the Commonwealth Games 2010.
Aamir Khan Dangal movie is witty and also poignant while showing the father-daughter relation. As well said ‘ Hanikarak Bapu’. Dangal works on the twin parameters one is being the sports film depicted well with the sweat, the akhara and the mitti. The other is the feminist side portraying girls are equal to boys if at least not better. The phogat girls take the limelight while Aamir khan supports them at the background being a stay at home father who takes pride in training his daughters to be champions. You will be gripped with this documentary. This is by far the most credible an Indian sports film has ever felt, with even the commentators getting in on the action, giving most of us a tutorial in how to watch the sport.Dangal teaches us where rainbows lie in wrestling, and while it is a celebration of true greats, and true grit, this isn’t about one sport. India needs to watch this film for the way it puts the ‘her’ in ‘hero.’
While watching this film and being a daughter myself. I could relate to what struggle a father has to go through to give his daughters equal rights fighting the norms of the society and when the battle begins at his home itself. I wish every father to first raise his Daughters as an independent woman than a princess.Sometimes making them tough and rough is important to face the realities of life. Mahavir Singh Phogat is just not a father today but also a vision for us and we so wish that every father is like him.
Watching Geeta and Babita makes you believe that there is nothing impossible to achieve in this world with strong determination and will.
Dangal is not just a movie; it is an experience to be cherished. It is extremely engaging, brilliantly entertaining and phenomenally patriotic in its feel.It is a film for the entire Indian mass. There is so much to learn and take away. The journey of Mahavir Singh Phogat is inspiring, emotional, and spellbinding.
Its a ‘Dhakad‘ film and a perfect end to 2016. You cannot ask for more.A must must watch !! for both the real and reel life heroes.
